well the hole reason of the after effects on airports after 9/11 is because we had such a good army they became prideful that we couldn't be beat. Then a terrorist group crashed a plane into the twin towers to prove them wrong. And now security in our country is really overloaded.

The French only blocked the British from winning by sheer numbers. (Once it became a battle of skill, the Americans shredded the redcoats and forced the pussies to surrender)
Technically, AC is set in the modern world, which does indeed have airports. (Who knows, maybe in AC3 they'll fly by airplane to some random artifact)There are no airports in AC -.-
