Where were my bros at today?. Was on the AoF server at about 4-4:30pm my time didnt see anyone. Oh well guess will try again tomorrow then.

I know this sounds really stupid but I have a few questions about server lag... Lag for dummies if you will:

What causes lag? (I have had different members tell me different things)

-First explanation was it all depends on each user's internet connection and effects only that player who is lagging.

-Second is the server itself. I should not be the only person who has experienced this 80% of the time I log on. And have noticed that 80% of the time that i'm not on there alone that other players have lagged at the same time which was pretty consistent annoying lag, not just every 5 minutes or so.

Is it possible in the near future to donate some money to improve hardware/software/connection to prevent lag from ever happening? (like most other servers, I've experienced no lag ever!)

I am very hesitant on ever donating money ever again to the server if this is what i experience dam near every time I log on to the AoF server. Considering the very short time I have been a member I have donated plenty of money to keep the server up which makes this post extremely valid and worthy of a reasonable response so please mcmonkey forgive my tech stupidity but this is really frustrating.

This is also the reason I have not been very active on the server of late. Last time I was on there were 3 random players that seemed alright and I was considering asking them If they were interested in joining a clan. All they had to say was "is this your server?" "Why does it lag so much" "this server sucks balls!". I did not say anything after they insulted our server but in all reality they were on the right page.

If we are going to start recruiting this is not how we should tempt people to join....

I do apologize for the extremely long post but I feel this has needed to be addressed for a long time.

The primary cause of lag is that I have minecraft server running off the same host.

If I had more money available, I could move one or both of them to a separate professional host.
Alta pays months late if he pays at all, and he + random donations are the only way I can get any form of money directed towards this purpose.
ATM I'm not even trying to get it done because I know Alta will miss a payment and then I'll miss a payment to the pro host and then I'll get banned from the host then I won't be able to get the server's data and we'll have nothing and we'll be worse off than we are now...............



Also, the lag isn't that bad most of the time. It's only when the MineCraft server fills up... which is only during certain times of the day. Which is the only playtime available for some of you AoFers so you're screwed but for everyone else, it isn't too bad...

Edit: Oh, and professional hosts are expensive as hell...

I will try to log on while you are not hosting/playing minecraft.

Do you have a general schedule that I could work around for lag free play?

I will look into professional hosts for the future to come. Or maybe When I get a monster machine I will start hosting the JK2 server and pay for your tech support with full access.

I've actually come up with a plan:

When I get my paypal account past $80,
I will buy a minecraft server.

My current host is fully capable of laglessly hosting JK2 once the minecraft server is hosted elsewhere.

Currently at $40 (From Alta's recent mass delayed payment)

The server will cost $60 for 6 months ... the extra $20 will hold me up if Alta misses 1 or 2 payments in the next 6 months....

I'll attempt to set up a paypal, but I'll have to send small increments. The reason is my dad will see my bank account and start asking questions. Oh and money is tight lol.

While I want donations for the server, I think your money is better off going towards buying minecraft for yourself.

So all you need to isolate the JK2 server is $40?

If that's the case I could probably get that to you within couple weeks.
